  • Union, CT, 07/16/2019 --  As evening begins to fall Angel (2nd from L) and his fellow campers laugh as they jostle to see who will be {quote}it{quote} for a game of tag outside of the boy's bunk at The Arthur C. Luf Children’s Burn Camp. For many campers this camp provides the rare opportunity to be surrounded by other children who look like them in a place where they can relax and just be kids for a week.
  • Belfast, ME, 04/29/2019 --  After a long day Etta Hughes, 11, rests her head on the kitchen table as she and her sister, Isla, 7, play a card game by candle light at their permaculture homestead in Maine. The Hughes family doesn't use electricity which is part of their petroleum-free, off-the-grid community in Maine called The Possibility Alliance.
  • Lelani Running Bear, of the Standing Rock Reservation, prepares a meal for members of High Star camp. She moved here in August from her home on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation to protest the Dakota Access Pipeline. Since then, her makeshift kitchen has become a kind of sanctuary for both her and others — a place to escape the anxiety, uncertainty, and fear that have come to define life here.

  • Boston, MA - 6/7/20 - Elizabeth Monteiro pleads with a Boston Police officer to try and get him to take a knee beside her as a small group of demonstrators gathered outside of Park Street and chanted at Police officers and Military Police following a United Against Racist PoliceTerror Rally that started at Boston City Hall and marched to Ruggles.
  • Woburn, MA - 6/4/20 - Valentina Manna, 8, (C) is comforted by her sister, Ty, 16, (L) after she took the microphone to speak to a crowd gathered at a peaceful Black Lives Matter vigil to honor the life of George Floyd and told the crowd, {quote}I don't care what color my sisters' skin is because I love them.{quote} Valentina broke down in tears and was embraced by her two sisters Brooklyn and Ty.

  • Brown's Town, Jamaica -- 1/17/2018 - As Tufts Dental Student Michael Golub examined ten year old Jada he noticed scars on her arms and face and asked her if she had been abused, she said that she had been. When he tried to inject her with novocaine she started to panic and sob. He tried to calm her down but ultimately had to pass her off to the pediatric dentists in a smaller quieter room who treat the toughest patients.
